Africa – a sparkling jewel, a continent full of life between the Indian and Atlantic Ocean. Over a length of more than 3,500 kilometers stretches one of the most fascinating geological formations through the second-largest continent of our planet – the East African Rift.
Bubbling volcanos develop while in their direct vicinity zebras, gnus, lions, elephants and buffaloes go through the seemingly infinite circle of life and death. It is one of the few places where nature is still untouched.
Accompany a 12-strong expedition team on the journey to the origins of our planet: Through the lively vastness of Tanzania, to the volcanicity of the Ol Doinyo Lengai, up to the crest of the highest free-standing mountain of the earth – the 5,895 meter high Kilimanjaro.
A film that lets you immerse into the breathtaking nature of East Africa to show you: The earth is alive.

Alexander Jatho and Madeleine Schröder, the owners of tour-operator AFROMAXX and leading supporters of the LIVING EARTH production, came to Tanzania in April 2004 to follow Alexanders roots. His father comes from Moshi, right at the bottom of Mount Kilimanjaro. Madeleine loves the distance and is therefore tying in to other stays abroad. Beeing attached to nature and adventure, Alexander and Madeleine are since then organising trekking-adventures and safaris in East Africa.
What is remarkable about their expeditions: The individual planing along with a perfect organisation and the personal assistance on location, which did convince us during our production. The professional and reliable teams are trained on a regular basis and work in a long-term relationship. Over the past years, AFROMAXX has become a well known tour-operator, not only because of the extraordinary quality, but also because of their respect towards nature, which is why AFROMAXX is one of our valued partners. www.afromaxx.com
